Meine Arbeit
Seit 40 Jahren zieht sich wie ein roter Faden die künstlerisch-gestalterische Arbeit mit Keramik durch mein Leben. Meine Neugier und Experimentierfreude finden in der komplexen Vielfalt von Keramik ein großes Spielfeld, das sich in den verschiedenen Aspekten meiner künstlerischen und gestalterischen Arbeiten mit allen Sinnen im Ton und Porzellan widerspiegelt.
My work
For over forty years curiosity and creative experimentation has been the continuing red thread through my life within the complex field of ceramics. It has become my big playground where I have fun. This interest and the fun that I have been working with this material are reflected in the many different aspects of my artistic and creative expression with clay and porcelain.

About: PORCELAIN
I am fascinated by the softness and sensuality of porcelain with its tender whiteness and highfired strength and durability. Throwing on my manual British treadle wheel, the Leach Wheel, is a physically intimate, calming and almost meditative working experience whereby traces of my fingers and hands become a lasting manifestation of this process.

Meine verbrachten Jahre in der Sonora-Wüstenstadt Tucson, Arizona in den USA, in der Nähe zu Mexiko und dessen Kultur, hat mich durch seine dynamische Farbintensität zur farbenfrohen Bemalung von Keramiken inspiriert und ermuntert. Die formale Gestaltung von Geschirr kombiniert mit Farben und Mustern entstehen intuitiv mit einer großen Freude im Hier und Jetzt und sind somit alle Unikate. Die Mischung macht's.

My many years of living in the Sonoran Desert town of Tucson, Arizona, exposed me to a Mexican cultural aesthetic comprised of varying dynamic color schemes that inspired me to handpaint my own ceramics in a very free and colorful way. My one-of-a-kind dishes are intuitively designed, by combining colors and patterns with joy in the present moment of their creation. The combination is intriguing.

Weißes, rotes, braunes, lederfarbenes, graues und schwarzes Steinzeug im Elektroofen niedrig- und hochgebrannt. Elegantes Tee- und Kaffeegeschirr und verformte Vasen aus rotem Ton nachtblauglänzend glasiert, Reliefwandplatten, Terrakotta-Gartengefäße und Skulpturen entstehen.
Beim Bildhauersymposium 2016 in Hundisburg, Sachsen-Anhalt, begann ich zum Thema Elefantenwaisenkinder und mit der illegalen Jagd auf das andere Weiße Gold, dem Elfenbein, keramisch bildhauerisch zu arbeiten. Ein weiterer, ferner Bezug zu meiner Biografie und regionalen Örtlichkeit.

White, red, brown, buffcolored, grey and black stoneware low and highfired in an electric kiln; Elegant dishes for the celebration of drinking tea and coffee as well as uniquely formed vases made from red clay with a glossy nightblue-colored glaze; Sensual wall-hanging reliefs, garden pots from terracotta as well as sculptures are created.
During my participation in the Sculpture Symposium in Hundisburg, Saxonia-Anhalt in 2016, I started working sculpturally with clay on my project about young elephant orphans and the illegal hunt for the other White Gold, namely the coveted ivory. This is another remote connection to my biography and its relevant geography.

Von Kindesbeinen an, inspiriert durch meine Eltern als Architekt und Innenarchitektin, habe ich mich später als keramische Künstlerin mit meinen Objekten immer im Kontext vom umgebenden Raum wahrgenommen.
Beim akademischen Studium an der Cranbrook Academy of Art in den USA begann ich mich 1991 mit der Leere im Raum und im Gefäß zu beschäftigen. Die Idee des Geamtkunstwerks begann in mir zu reifen.
Menschen füllen die Leere des Raumes, der Installation, durch ihre Gegenwart und ergänzen das Gesamtbild, das sich immer wieder je nach Position verändert.
About: INSTALLATIONS/CREATION
From my early childhood on, growing up with parents who were architects and interior designers, I was inspired to envision myself as a ceramic artist who conceived of her surrounding environment always in the context of my ceramic objects.
In 1991, during my Masters study at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in the U.S., I started to think about the void that I perceived as existing within spaces and vessels. The idea of the Gesamtkunstwerk started to blossom in me.
Human beings with their presence fill the void of the installation and complete the whole tableau which changes as they move within the space.
